Well, that didn't go as planned at all. The torch he'd brought in didn't provide nearly enough light--the circle didn't extend much past his own body--so he didn't see the tentacle until it was already around his leg. Of course, by that time, it was too late to do anything. The torch hit the ground when Vyse was hoisted into the air, plunging the area back into darkness when it fizzled out. Vyse's blades followed and he groaned.
"Hey uh...I don't mean any harm, I'm just looking for something, I promise."
He hoped that whatever he was dealing with understood him.
